Old Town Partnership of Churches

Home Events About us Officers Archives Magazine

A Special event to mark the close of our Golden Jubilee Year.   We plan to brighten dark December evenings by bringing to a close our year-long celebrations of 50 years of working together in the longest active Ecumenical Partnership in the UK.

The Christmas Tree Festival will be based at all four of our Churches

Businesses, community groups and schools throughout the parish will place a tree (or trees) at one or more of the Churches and include a suitable greeting or message, to share Christmas joy with our neighbours and fellow citizens, and to promote themselves whilst providing an enjoyable and memorable experience for all visitors.

To encourage creativity and innovation, a tree need not be a conventional tree at all.  It could be made from any material, including paper, cardboard, natural materials, salvaged or re-used items - and in whatever colour or pattern that might catch the eye.

Christmas Tree Festival - opens 1st December 2019

We are asking participants to prepare, decorate and personalise their tree(s) - to be installed at the agreed venue(s), for a nominal charge of £5, which will be donated to a nominated charity.  Set-up will be on Saturday 30 November, in time for the start of the Festival on 1 December.  Participants will be able to collect their tree(s) at dates to be agreed with the host church(s), as some of the churches would like to continue the displays until Christmas week.

We hope that you will register to get involved in this special event and, on receipt of your “expression of interest” form, we will provide further details.  Please click here for the form to let us know your response and, of course, let us be the first to wish you a Happy Christmas!
